According to an official of Ministry of Health, the federal government is striving to provide best medical care to the patients at its two hospitals here but there is need to build another hospital in the federal capital. He said with the support of UAE government a trauma centre would be set up near Chak Shahzad. He said consultants were working to prepare plan in this regard. He said under the proposed new health policy, district hospitals, tehsil hospitals and basic health units would be strengthened. He said the policy also addressed the shortage of doctors and paramedical staff in the government hospital, as it had been proposed in the draft that such staff might be appointed where required to improve the health service delivery system. He said the ministry also proposed standard training of medical professionals including doctors, paramedical staff and technicians to provide quality services to the country people in the hospitals. He said under the new health policy more focus would be on delivery of better health services to poor people who are living below poverty line and unable to afford treatment expenses. He said the ministry also suggested in draft giving priority to the health of mother and child, as health indicators regarding mother and child health are not impressive and need proper attention. app http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2009\08\10\story_10-8-2009_pg11_3 |
