ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari leaves on a two-week foreign tour on Thursday (tomorrow). During the trip, he will attend the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FODP) and the UN General Assembly sessions. The president will also meet foreign leaders, including US President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Zardari would arrive in New York on September 20. He will attend a meeting of countries contributing peacekeeping forces to the UN on September 23. On September 24, the president would attend the FODP meeting. All members of the FODP are likely to attend the summit. On September 25, Zardari will address the annual session of the UN General Assembly. A source said the president would also meet a number of world leaders, including President Obama.
