Certain elements in the bureaucracy are creating hurdles in the development process in Karachi by trying to withhold even approved funds for the city government; due to this, the city government is currently facing a financial crisis, City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal said on Saturday.
He was talking to journalists after attending the Eid Milan party at the City Naib Nazim Secretariat.
Kamal said that withholding funds for development projects in Karachi was not good for the country either, because development in Karachi is equivalent to the development of Pakistan. Even a temporary halt in the development process in Karachi would prove harmful to the economy of the country, he said.
