CDA chief orders security of visitors at public parks - Naveed Yaseen - 10-15-2009 06:38 AM By Fazal Sher ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi on Wednesday directed the authority’s environment wing to make proper security arrangements at parks to avert any untoward incident. He issued these orders during his visit to Lake View Park. Elahi said effective security arrangements, including fencing of the parks and visiting spots, should be made to facilitate the public. “Huge number of people visit various parks of the city and it was vital to fence these park to block entry of anyone from any place other than main gate,” he said. The CDA chief said the park administration should maintain proper record of the visitors and devise a system to check every visitor at the main gate. “ In the current law and order situation it is necessary to take effective measure for the security of people at public places,” he said. He asked the environment wing head to prepare a plan for security arrangements at the parks and present it to the CDA’s board within 10 days. The chairman said all the future recreational projects of the authority would be executed on self-sustainable basis. Elahi directed that recreational facilities must be established in different areas of the city rather than dumping these at one or two spots. The kiosks in the public park would be relocated so that the recreational facilities did not give a bad look, he said. He said the maintenance of the parks and the recreational facilities was a major issue and proper arrangements should be in place to make the existing and future ventures self-sustainable. The system of imposition of fine would be made more effective to overcome the littering issue in the parks, he said. He said all the venders providing services in the parks would be licensed to ensure quality of the products and services to the public. Picnic spots and parks would be equipped with the latest recreational facilities for the children, he said. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2009\10\15\story_15-10-2009_pg11_3 |
