Islamabad: Alarming increase in robbery, car theft cases in capital - Naveed Yaseen - 08-31-2008 10:00 AM By Fazal Sher ISLAMABAD: The federal capital is witnessing an alarming increase in incidents of robbery, car theft and fake cheques, as the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police registered 26 robbery, 21 car theft and 32 fake cheques cases in the current month only. According to data gathered by Daily Times, the ICT police also registered three murder, four mobile phone snatching and two kidnapping cases this month. Shalimar police station registered four cases of robbery, three cases of car theft, five cases of fake cheques and one case of mobile phone snatching. Similarly, Margalla police station registered four cases of robbery, three cases of car theft and five cases of fake cheques. Four robbery cases, one case each of car lifting and mobile phone snatching and two cases of fake cheques were registered with Sabzi Mandi police station. Kohsar police station registered 17 cases of fake cheques, three cases of robbery and three cases of car thefts. Bhara Kahu police station registered three cases of robbery, one case each of car lifting, mobile phone snatching and kidnapping. Shahzad Town police station registered two cases of robbery and two cases of car lifting. Industrial Area police station registered two cases each of robbery and car lifting and one case of fake cheque. Koral police registered one case each of murder, robbery and car lifting. One incident each of murder and robbery occurred in the limits of Sihala police station and one incident of robbery took place in the limits of Tarnol police station. Golra police registered two cases of car lifting and Aabpara police station registered one case each of murder, robbery, mobile phone snatching and two cases each of car theft and fake cheque. Police sources said residents of rural areas including Bhara Kahu, Sihala, Tarnol and Sbazi Mandi had lodged several complaints with police highups that outlaws were active in their areas but police were not registering a number of robbery, theft and burglary cases to show good performance to their high officials. They said the ICT police had failed to make any strategy to control rising incidents of car thefts in the city.
