CM for greenery along Ring Road - Lahore_Real_Estate - 03-18-2010 12:44 PM Thursday, March 18, 2010 By Our Correspondent CHIEF Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that besides transparent and quality completion of development projects, the policy regarding promotion of greenery should also be implemented and the maximum number of trees should be planted at development projects as it will add beauty to the projects and provide better atmosphere to people. Presiding over a meeting regarding promotion of horticulture in the province here on Wednesday, he directed the officials concerned to present a comprehensive horticulture plan to him by the next week regarding the Lahore Ring Road project. Shahbaz said a policy had been evolved for promoting greenery along the roads, flyovers and underpasses and maximum tree plantation would be undertaken at all development projects in the future. He said the government was implementing a comprehensive strategy for beautification of cities and provision of a healthy atmosphere to the citizens while beautiful models were also being set up at important places in the cities of the province. The CM said the Lahore Ring Road was an important project and Package-6 and 7 of the project had been completed in a record period. He said the new packagesof the ring road were the gateway to the city and maximum plantation should be undertaken at the projects. He said trees should be made compulsory at all development projects and private sector should be fully encouraged for the purpose. He said maximum parks and gardens should be developed for the provision of healthy recreational facilities to the masses. The chief minister said infrastructure played a key role in development, therefore, the government was paying special attention to the uplift of the sector. He said development projects worth billions of rupees were being executed expeditiously in a transparent way. |
