Int’l Housing conference begins in Lahore today

ISLAMABAD, (SANA): International Housing conference will be held on Thursday (today) in Lahore in which experts will present their papers and will reveal the latest advancement in the filed of construction and building.

An international exhibition will also include in the conference following land breaking ceremony of Prime Minister Housing program.

A One-day International Housing Conference and Exhibition on Safe and Sustainable Housing is being organized by Ministry of Housing & Works and National Housing Authority on August 5 at Lahore.

Representatives from Public and Private sector organizations including foreign construction companies will attend the conference along with civil administrators like Political as well as bureaucratic brass of the ministry.

A mess of eminent experts and professionals will share their insights, initiatives and strategies in the area of sustainable housing development in Pakistan with a focus on housing for low income groups ensuring all buildings, houses, structure were in compliance with the requirements of new Building Code of Pakistan-2007 as well as Building Energy Code-2010.

The conference will also focus on strategies for effective enforcement of Building Code of Pakistan 2007 throughout the country for ensuring better safety standards for construction.

“The activity is subjected to create awareness among all stakeholders including general publics to understand the importance and urgency of implementing the guidelines provided in the Building Code of Pakistan-2007 to ensure safety of building’s structures in order to prevent loss of human lives and collateral damages in future disasters”, Muhammad Irfan Khan Deputy Director General National Highway Authority informed.

About 9 papers compiled by eminent building experts, engineers and contractors would be presented enveloping guided development plans, building code, planning and management of safety and security, light weight aggregated construction, building energy code and affordable housing options in the conference.

More than a dozen construction and hosing hawks will participate the exhibition.

Federal Minister for Housing & Works, Rehmatullah Kakar will inaugurate the conference.

The event will also include Ground Breaking ceremony of an Affordable Housing Project in Lahore being launched under the Prime Minister’s Housing Programme.

The project is said to be the continuation of Prime Minister’s Housing for all Program, and the Ministry of Housing & Works has already launched an ambitious program for construction of one million housing units throughout the country.

The Pakistan Housing Authority and Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation have started recently the construction of about 2000 “D” & “E” type flats in I-16/3 sector, Islamabad and construction of flats in Karachi was said to be in progress.
