Industrial exhibition starts today
RAWALPINDI: A three-day industrial exhibition will kick off under the auspices of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) today (August 6) at Topi Rakh Auditorium near Ayub National Park Rawalpindi, said RCCI President Kashif Shabbir on Thursday. Addressing a press conference at venue of the exhibition, he said industrial equipments including solar energy panels, economical air-conditioning devices, latest models of automobiles; motorbikes and household items would be displayed at the exhibition. “Other features of the exhibition include a food corner offering variety of dishes to the visitors besides plenty of stuff to entertain children,” he said adding that TDAP Chairman Syed Mohibullah Shah would inaugurate the exhibition. Replying to a question, RCCI president said that businessmen were not opposed to the Afghan Transit Trade. “However, a procedure should be adopted that goods meant to be transported to Afghanistan must reach there without any leakage on the way. Now goods that are imported through Afghan Transit Trade are consumed here in Pakistan instead of being transported to Afghanistan,” he added. He said the government should collect duty on all goods brought under the Afghan Transit Trade at the Karachi port. Responding to another question, he said that if the government kept an eye on demand and supply chain, prices of all items could remain stable during the holy month of Ramadan. “RCCI would support government in dealing hoarders with an iron hand,” Shabbir vowed. Exhibition Committee Chairman Abdur Rauf Chaudhary said on the occasion that RCCI endeavoured to turn the exhibition into a family gala with a view to attract more and more people. “Entry for the general public will be free,” he informed newsmen. He said the exhibition would feature 54 stalls and the size of each stall would be three meters by three meters, which was as per international standards.
