FIA revamps surveillance system at BB Int'l Airport
ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has strengthened its checking system at Benazir Bhutto International Airport here that matches to any practices or standard being in place at any destination across the globe to curb fake travel documents as well as palm-greasing of the officials.
The fresh initiatives feature increase in FIA's staff strength at Arrival and Departure Lounges with separate officers being entrusted to head these Lounges. Similar to the system at Karachi Airport, One Deputy Director would be the In-charge at airport while for the arrival and departure lounges, two separate Assistant Director have been appointed. They would have the separate domain and their nature of job would be different. Shift In-charge would be the officer of Inspector level at Arrival and Departure counters and domain of each officer would be different. When contacted, Additional Director General (Immigration) Captain Zafar Iqbal confirmed the increased number of officers at each departure and arrival lounges. He said the move would streamline the working which would also bind the Assistant Director to inform Deputy Director in case of any complaint. "It will bring more professional responsibility among the officers," he maintained. Following the directions of Minister for Interior A.Rehman Malik, the whole staff at Departure Counter of Benazir International Airport Islamabad has been changed. It is to mention that previous staff is reported to have facilitated a family to travel on fake passport after taking bribe. He said staff of around 30-35 officials at Departure Counter from Inspector to Constable level has been changed while those having bad repute are also being changed. |
