Mass transit project to revolutionise transport: CM

PUNJAB Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Lahore Mass Transit Project, evolved with the cooperation of China, will usher in a revolution in public transport system in Pakistan. He was chairing a meeting regarding the Lahore Mass Transit Project at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Monday.

The CM said that transparency in the execution of the development projects was the hallmark of the Punjab government which would be ensured at any cost in all the projects, including the mass transit system. He said all possible steps would be taken for the early initiation of the project for the provision of modern transport facilities to the masses. The meeting reviewed in detail various aspects for the early launching of the project. Chairman Planning & Development Javed Aslam highlighted the salient features of the project signed with the Chinese company, NORINCO, regarding Lahore Mass Transit Project.

Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Chairman Lahore Transport Company Kh. Ahmed Hassaan, Members Provincial Assembly Kh Salman Rafiq, Hafiz Mian Nauman, Mohsin Latif, Mehr Ishtiaq, secretaries of Finance and Transport departments, director general LDA, commissioner and DCO Lahore were present.
