KARACHI, June 29: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has directed the relevant officials to speed up the construction of the Rs289 million Jinnah Terminal flyover. Speaking at a review meeting on the completion of the present uplift works in city, he said all available resources must be pooled to ensure timely completion of the project.

The administrator said Sharea Faisal was a very busy corridor of the city and it experienced a lot of traffic pressure coming to and from the international airport. Any negligence in its development works would therefore not be tolerated, he added. He also directed the officials to ensure the implementation of an alternative traffic plan with the help of traffic police so that the flow of surrounding traffic was maintained and passengers and commuters did not suffer.

At a briefing, the administrator was informed that the 570-metre-long flyover would have nine spans and it had been made sure that high quality iron and other materials were used in the construction of the bridge. Mr Syed said international standards must be complied with in the construction.
