Defaulting power consumers face disconnection
All POWER distribution companies across the country, including Lahore and Faisalabad electric supply companies, have started disconnecting the power supply of defaulters who failed to clear their dues even after the final warning.
The Lesco and Fesco sources told the agency here on Sunday that a campaign had been launched for the recovery of stuck arrears, and all defaulters had been told to clear arrears to avoid disconnection of power supply. The SEs, Xens and SDOs, working in distribution companies at Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sargodha, Khushab, Bhakkar and Mianwali districts, have been directed to disconnect the power supply to defaulters and take legal action against them. All the SDOs have also been told to personally plead and pursue cases in courts. Several recovery teams have been constituted at sub-division level to ensure recovery of all arrears, especially those considered dead arrears, from the defaulters. Chief executives of the two companies, Muhammad Akram Arain and Ahmad Saeed Akhtar, are monitoring the performance of their field officers, who will be responsible for achieving the recovery targets set by the authorities, and they have been warned not to restore power supply to defaulters unless all arrears are cleared, failing which they will be suspended from service. Meanwhile, Renala Khurd division Xen Maqsood Ahmad, in compliance of the chief executive’s directive, has disconnected more than 1,240 connections of defaulters and directed the SDOs and line superintendents to realise the arrears. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=140765 |
