Lahore to be turned into ‘Visual Garden’
The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has laid out the details of its future course of action as per Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif’s ‘Green and Clean Programme’.
During a press briefing held at Jilani Park on Saturday, Chief Minister’s Task Force Chairman for Horticulture Mustafa Kamal, told media that the PHA had devised plans and means to follow the concept of turning Lahore into a ‘Visual Garden’ by not only enhancing horticulture but also paying attention to details in a bid to make the city look green, clean and beautiful as well. To accomplish this task, he said that the PHA had listed 32 roads to be lined with green belts and decorated with fountains and monuments at intersections. He informed the media that special attention would be given to beautify and improve the ‘Street Furniture’ including benches, dustbins, leisure set-up of public parks and bus-stand shelters. “PHA has intended to develop over 10 new major public parks and 15 sports grounds before March 2009,” he said while pledging that the development would not discriminate any area as the PHA aimed to benefit all parts of the city ranging from Gujjar Pura to Thokar Niaz Baig. Due to the high cost of the project, the government had decided to invite outdoor investment association to fund the project in collaboration with the PHA, Kamal said while expressing satisfaction over the fact that the project plan had an estimated cost of Rs 250 million yet the PHA had already arranged around Rs 150 million from the private sector. http://www.pakrealestatetimes.com/newthread.php?fid=4 |
