Pakistani-owned CyberTex among top emerging businesses
Saturday, January 31, 2009
By our correspondent KARACHI: CyberTex Inc has been selected as one of the top 500 emerging businesses in the US by DiversityBusiness.com in its ninth annual countrywide competition in which 650,000 companies took part throughout the US. CyberTex was founded by Iqbal Sheikh, a Pakistani entrepreneur who migrated to the US in 1999, settled in Austin, Texas and within two weeks launched the company with a borrowed capital of $150 only. This year the company is celebrating its 10th anniversary and to its credit, it has been continuously listed among the top 25 computer training schools since 2001, number 7 in Austin Business Journal’s Book of Lists last year and is one of the top IT and medical career training schools. In addition to training, CyberTex is also engaged in managed services, communications and security businesses. From a humble beginning in 1999, the company’s revenue rose to US$1.5 million last year. In the next seven years, CyberTex will be a full-fledged college/university having campuses in many states all over USA. As president and CEO, Sheikh manages the day-to-day operations and forms the long-term goals for the company. His vision for CyberTex includes not only IT, but most recently the medical field. In recognition of Sheikh’s services and contributions to the IT field, Royal British Computer Society conferred on him the titles of MBCS and CITP (Chartered Information System Practitioner) in 2003. “This is a field where you can directly contribute and guide people to a better life and better jobs,” he said. The award was announced on January 23 and CyberTex will be honoured at the 9th Annual National Multicultural Awards Ceremony and Conference on April 29 to May 1. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg1_10 |
