CDA holds talks with South Korean companies
Sunday, March 01, 2009
By our correspondent Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Saturday entered into talks with a leading company from South Korea for the upcoming Ghazi Brotha water supply project, aimed at enhancing water supply to the federal capital to meet the existing shortfall as well as to meet the future needs of the city. CDA Chairman Tariq Mahmood Khan chaired a meeting, which was attended by senior officials of the authority as well as the representatives of the Korea Water Resources Corporation K Water Seo, Taek-Won and Jae-Min Nam, and the representative of M/s SAMBU Construction Co. Ltd, South Korea, Choi, Kwang Sikm and their local partner Syed M Hussain Gardezi. The meeting discussed the details of the plan to bring water from Ghazi Brotha Dam to Islamabad and the relevant technical and professional details of the project with the representatives of the South Korean companies. Talking to ‘The News’, the CDA chairman said that Saturday’s talks with the South Korean companies were just the preliminary discussions about the project. In the first phase, one million gallon each will be supplied to both Islamabad and Rawalpindi through this project, he added. “I have advised the Water Resources Corporation of South Korea to submit a detailed report to the CDA Board for discussion in light of its financial, technical and other related aspects of the project, he added. “I have also told Director-General (Water Management) Sanaullah Aman to call recommendations from the prominent foreign companies who may be interested to execute the project. It would be only after we have discussed and negotiated the project with a number of international companies capable of carrying out a project of such giant proportions that we would take a decision to award the contract for this project,” the chairman said. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=165047 |
