E&P firms start activities at Balochistan fields

KARACHI: Various exploration and production (E&P) companies have started carrying out work on 15 oil and gas fields in Balochistan after they were given green signal by the provincial government, Additional Secretary Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources G A Sabri said.

He said the Balochistan government has issued security clearance to 15 licences issued to different companies out of 25 licences aimed at stepping up work on exploration and production of oil and gas from natural resources of the province.

The majority of firms have started seismic activities on their respective fields and would start drilling activities on their projects soon, he added.

Sabir said that the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved the petroleum policy, but has forwarded it to another committee of Corporate Social Responsibility for resolving all the undecided and contentious issues.
