‘Hafiz Quran’ allegedly paraded nude over property dispute: Charsadda

CHARSADDA: Armed men allegedly took a Hafiz-e-Quran ‘nude’ around the village, over property dispute, in Utmanzai Shamozai village of the district Tuesday.

Registering a case with the police, the victim, Hafiz Muhammad Saleem son of Hafiz Rahimullah said he was working in the fields when his rivals, Farman son of Burhan, Naeem Jan son of Gul Afzal and Qasim son of Amirzada, equipped with arms, arrived there and assaulted him.

They forcibly striped him of clothes and also snatched Rs1,500 out of his pocket. After the incident, local elders and religious scholars held a protest meeting to condemn the incident. District naib nazim Farman Ali Khan, who was among protesters, said such a disgrace to religious families would not be tolerated at any cost. He demanded of the local administration to arrest the culprits and book them under Anti-Terrorist Act.
