Home invasions on the rise in Pindi

RAWALPINDI: The city police have failed to check the growing incidents of house robberies and burglaries, as six families were deprived of 90-tola gold ornaments last week. Citizens reported 30 incidents of house robbery, burglary and car theft to different police stations last week against 21 incidents reported week before last. The outlaws remained more active in the limits of Airport police station, as seven cases of house robbery and burglary were lodged with the police station. In these incidents, outlaws deprived victims of cash and 40-tola gold ornaments worth over Rs 1.4 million. In an incident, five armed persons looted Rs 5.6 million cash at gunpoint from Col ® Gulzar. Cases have been registered but the culprits are still at large. Robbers looted Rs 0.5 million cash from Sohail Malik, a resident of Airport Colony. Similarly, another citizen Syed Noor lodged a complaint with police stating that robbers deprived him of 20-tola gold and Rs 50,000 cash during a house robbery. Nargis Zafar informed police that burglars deprived her of around 18-tola gold, cash and prize bonds. Dr Abdul Ibrahim lodged a complaint with police complaining that robbers broke into his house and deprived him of over two-tola gold ornaments and cash. Zafar Mehmood lodged a compliant with police stating that thieves stole Rs 0.2 million cash from his office. Salahuddin informed police that outlaws deprived him of two costly laptops in a house robbery. Muhammad Saeed informed Ganjmandi police that burglars deprived his family of around 25-tola gold when they were away from house. Mazhar Hussain told Pirwadhai police that unknown robbers looted around 26-tola gold from his house.Muhammad Sajad reported to Civil Lines police station that burglars deprived him of 18-tola gold. Fifteen cars were also lifted from the limits of different police stations. Four cases of car thefts were reported to Ganjmandi and Waris Khan police, while seven cases were registered with Banni, Pirwadhai, Sadiqabad, Westridge, Civil and Cantt police stations. imran asghar
