Islamabad Traffic Police to introduce internationally valid driving licence
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have started issuing improved driving licenses having eight security features that make it impossible to prepare fake versions.
“This new license would contain finger prints of holders and also their driving history along with standing on the in-built points table and biometric safeguard,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Dr Sultan Azam Temuri on Tuesday. Traffic police will acknowledge the license, both in Urdu and English languages, internationally. The SSP said the driving licence system would be linked to National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) and Automated Finger Identification System (AFIS). He said ITP were introducing this new driving licence after studying the licensing system of several foreign countries. Temuri said this high-tech driving license would have multiple security features of international standards and also the several other qualities, i.e PVC pre-printed card and 4 D bar-code, Picture with white back ground, UV logos on both sides and three dimensional holographic seal and lamination, violation code, images of driving license categories, dual languages and having International Copy rights. “ITP are not only the first ever police organisation in Pakistan but in the South Asia which has been also declared ISO Certified in the region through its efforts to provide the best services to the citizens,” he added. After a thorough audit of the processes by the international representatives of ISO certification and after three months audit of ITP Driving License, Field Duty and other areas of ITP, the ISO recognised its services through extending ISO Certificate No PK197-QC. Australian firm TQCS International (Group) Pty Ltd has made this recognition. app http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg11_6 |
