Punjab CM orders free Iftar in Ramazan
Says the number of Ramazan bazaars to be doubled
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that easy availability of quality essential items to consumers will be ensured during Ramazan and atta on subsidised rates would be supplied to fair price shops and other places by trucks. He also issued instructions to double the number of Ramazan bazaars as well as expansion of free Iftar throughout the province. all-out effort would be made for the easy availability of essential items during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak. He was presiding over a meeting regarding Ramazan Package at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Tuesday. Provincial Minister for Food Malik Nadeem Kamran, MNAs, MPAs, the chief Secretary, addl. chief secretary, the Taskforce chairman and senior officers were also present. The chief minister issued instructions for the formation of special committees headed by ministers, advisors and provincial secretaries to ensure the smooth supply of high quality daily-use items at reasonable rates during Ramzan-ul-Mubarak in their respective districts. He also issued instructions to double the number of Ramazan bazaars as well as the expansion of free Iftari system throughout the province. He said that no effort would be spared for the provision of quality items to the people at reasonable rates during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak and a comprehensive strategy had been devised for the purpose. He said that price control committees were being immediately activated in this regard. He said that quality Atta would be provided to the people at concessionary rates and its price would be determined within a few days. He said that Atta would be supplied to the consumers at fair price shops, Ramazan bazaars and different places through trucks. He said that an effective system would be evolved for the monitoring of the sale of Sasta Atta so that the poor could fully benefit from the scheme. He said that Atta bags of 5kg should also be supplied during Ramzan-ul-Mubarak for the poor. He also issued instructions for production of special bags of Sasta Atta, displaying the rate prominently. He said that the sale of sugar at Rs.40 per kg would be ensured in Ramazan bazaars and the sugar mills association would be contacted in this regard. The chief minister directed commissioners and DCOs to arrange free Iftaris in their respective areas and give due publicity to the centres selected for the purpose. He issued special instructions to arrange free Iftaris at orphanages, railway stations, bus stands, labour colonies and Katchi Abadis as well and seek the cooperation of philanthropists in this regard. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=191557 |
