India allows Jaswant Singh to visit Pakistan
LAHORE: The Indian government has allowed expelled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jaswant Singh to visit Pakistan on September 26 to promote his recently-launched book, The Hindustan Times reported on Sunday.
It said Jaswant would arrive in Karachi on September 26, before heading to Islamabad the next day to attend a book-launch ceremony at the Islamabad Press Club. The former Indian external affairs minister was expelled from the BJP for praising Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah in his book ‘Jinnah: India, Partition, Independence’. The Indian government granted security clearance to Jaswant on Saturday after repeated attempts, the paper said. Meanwhile, APP reported that the book was attracting so much attention in Indian Gujarat that publishers hurriedly dispatched 5,000 copies on Saturday to meet the rising great demand, soon after the state’s high court discarded a ban on the book on Friday. daily times monitor/app http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...2009_pg7_7 |
