Lahore High Court orders removal of encroachments from Shah Alam Cloth Market
LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Khawaja Muhammad Sharif on Tuesday directed the Ravi Town administration to remove encroachments from Pakistan Cloth Market at Shah Alam Gate besides giving time to six shop owners to remove the debris by Eidul Fitar. The CJ also directed the senior superintendent of police (SSP-Operation) to give full support to the Ravi Town officials to do the needful. He directed the Ravi Town tehsil municipal officer to submit a compliance report to the additional registrar (judicial) of the LHC. The CJ issued this order on a petition by Muhammad Sadiq, a resident of the locality next to the cloth market, seeking easy access to the main road. The petitioner submitted that the access of the residents to the main road had been barred due to encroachments. On the court directions, the provincial government law officer submitted a report and the district coordination officer also confirmed that there was illegal and unauthorised construction of shops against the sanctioned plan. staff report
