Imran Khan calls for mid-term elections in Balochistan
QUETTA: Describing the current Balochistan government as “not representative of all spectrums of the political divide”, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has called for mid-term elections in Balochistan to normalise the political situation in the province. Imran, who is currently in Balochistan on a peace mission, on Saturday, along with Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) President Talal Akbar Bugti, told a news conference that Balochistan urgently needed fresh elections. He said the present government did not represent the people of the province because the nationalist parties had boycotted the elections. “Last year’s general elections brought no change to Balochistan. The military operation is still continuing unabated in Balochistan and the NWFP. Both provinces are being ruled by the same people who were granted amnesty under the National Reconciliation Ordinance. “The main problem with Balochistan is the injustices done to it over the past many years. We will come up with a proposed package for Balochistan to settle the issues of the province for good,” he said. malik siraj akbar
