Pakistan to turn back the clock today
ISLAMABAD: Clocks in Pakistan will officially be turned back by an hour as the daylight saving time comes to an end at the stroke of midnight today, DawnNews reports. The daylight saving move was implemented to conserve energy in an increasingly strapped economy in conditions where the energy situation is going to get worse before it gets any better. Daylight saving time was used to save energy by extending daylight, therefore reducing the need to use artificial lighting, air-conditioning and other electrical appliances. Electricity supplies to homes, businesses and factories across Pakistan were cut for several hours a day to overcome the energy crisis in the country. The government had decided to maintain the daylight saving time till October 31st. The change had put Pakistan six hours ahead of GMT. http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn...oday-zj-05 |
