‘Thermal scanners at airports prior to pilgrims’ return’
The federal government will install thermal scanners at airports, prior to the arrival of hajj flights, to look for swine flu symptoms among passengers, Dr Sagheer Ahmed said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a seminar to generate awareness regarding swine flu, Dr Ahmed said that testing facilities for swine flu will be made available at the Civil Hospital Karachi before the pilgrims return to Pakistan. Executive district officers (health) and medical superintendents of institutions and major hospitals have been advised to start piling a stock of Oseltdmir (75mg) tablets. “A large stock of Tamiflu (around 30,9760 tablets), has been distributed among the medical superintendents of various hospitals,” he said, adding that guidelines have been provided at seaports and land entry points to screen people entering Pakistan. Dr Ahmed further said that the heads of all educational institutions have been asked to issue circulars to parents to keep children with flu at home until they have completely recuperated. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=208087 |
