PM to give awards to businessmen today

LAHORE: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani will present around 21 achievement awards to industrialists, businessmen and a scientist at a ceremony titled ‘Lahore Chamber Achievement Awards 2010’ at the Expo Centre today at 5pm.

LCCI spokesman Shahid Khalil told Daily Times that they had planned to donate around Rs 10 million in awards’ collection money to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund and Rs 5 million to the Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund. The Punjab governor, chief minister, eight ministers, federal and provincial secretaries, industrialists, businessmen and influential people from all walks of life will attend the ceremony. Shahid said the Lahore chamber had so far sent 125 truckloads of relief goods to various flood-hit areas across the country. The LCCI management has also planned to not serve food to the guests at the ceremony so that the money could instead be saved for the relief of flood victims, he added.
