Business centres for women being set up
LAHORE (November 16, 2010) : Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda)'s Chief Executive Office, Anwar Ahmad Khan on Monday said the government has granted approval for setting up more women business development centres in various business cities. Such centres are near to completion in Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta, he added.
While talking to women entrepreneurs working at Women Business Incubation Centre (WBIC) during his visit, he said the country could not achieve goal of economic prosperity until making women an active part of trade and industry. On the occasion, Project Manager WBIC, Maimona Sattar, gave a presentation on the centre's role in development of women entrepreneur-ship. She said a large number of women have graduated from the centre during last three years. WBIC, in addition to providing business facilitation, has also been organising a series of valuable training programmes each year for potential businesswomen, she added. Provincial Chief Smeda-Punjab, Alamgir Chaudhry was also present on the occasion. |
