Pindi’s first parking plaza becomes functional
RAWALPINDI : Public service vehicles stand (Suzuki stand) in Rawalpindi’s first parking plaza at Fowara chowk in Raja Bazaar has become partially functional. However, the whole project will be formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif during his visit to Rawalpindi on Feb 4. Construction and renovation work of the parking plaza has been completed recently and this initiative is claimed to mitigate the problems of the motorists who visited the busiest bazaars of the town daily. The CM Punjab has taken keen interest for the construction of the parking plaza to fulfil a long-standing demand of the public. The parking plaza is constructed on 4.5 kanals and it will have total five stories and a basement. It is located in the heart of the city at the crossing of Liaquat and Jinnah roads near Fowara chowk. The basement and two floors have been completed under the first phase of the project while in the second phase three more floors will be constructed. The basement of the plaza will be used as public service vehicles stand while upper floors will be used for parking purposes. According to estimates, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) will generate an income of over Rs15 million annually from this project. The plaza has a parking capacity of 240 vehicles while there is also a space for nearly 120 public service vehicles in the basement |
