KARACHI - Head of the Special Committee on Zulfiqarabad Authority (ZA), Taj Haider said establishment of Zulfiqarabad is imperative for the development of Sindh.

One million acres land out of total 1.3 million acres will be reclaimed with the help of 230 kilometers long iron wall inside the sea, he said.

Taj Haider, who is also the General Secretary of the PPP Sindh, said this while briefing members of the Sindh Assembly and media about Zulfiqarabad project at the SA committee room no 1 here the other day. He said the project of Zulfiqarabad was of much importance and we should consider every aspect of it.

He recalled that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had announced three mega projects for Sindh during her government’s tenure which included Ketti Bander and Port Qasim. He also called for need to generate more employment opportunities to cope with the new challenges.

Taj Haider said initially 60,000 acres of land has been selected to start work on the Zulfiqarabad project. He said in the first phase work will be started in three projects include inauguration of 6 kilometers Dhandari Bridge which would cover 60 kilo meters. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah will soon inaugurated work on Dhandari Bridge which would cost Rs 3 billions, he added.

Construction of a small port at Keti Bander is the second project, Taj Haider said.

Speaking about third project, he said a power generation plant project to be executed by a Malaysian Company which intends to generate 1250 megawatt electricity with wind energy.

Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, MPAs Sadiq Memon, Haji Munawer Ali Abbasi, Heer Ismail Soho, Mir Babu, Dr Sikander Mendhro, Shama Meethani and other notables were also present on the occasion.

Pakistani delegation visits India: A Pakistani delegation headed by Director General Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, comprising members of Pakistan Rangers, Punjab, Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, Survey of Pakistan, Ministry of Interior and Anti Narcotics Force is visiting India to attend biannual meeting scheduled from July 1 to 5 at Delhi.

It said that during the meeting following points will be discussed with BSF India: All important issues of common interest, measure to improve peace and tranquility along the international border/working boundary. Repatriation of Pakistani fishermen, inadvertent crossers and Pakistani prisoners detained in Indian jails.

The Illegal border crossing/smuggling and hostile firing. Besides, above mentioned points, officials of Anti Narcotics Force will discuss various aspects to check and control smuggling and sharing of intelligence with their counterparts to curb the menace of drugs smuggling through India-Pakistan border, the Rangers press release added.
