Neglected SITE road continues causing inconvenience
Karachi : A large number of motorists and commuters have been suffering for years due to the dilapidated condition of an important road linking the SITE flyover to Banaras Chowrangi.
Presently, this road is virtually reduced to a muddy track with Nullah water inundating the broken road, causing frequent traffic jams. Heavy vehicles, particularly loading trucks, use this road extensively as well, further complicating the traffic gridlock issue. Factories and thickly populated slum areas are situated along this road, and factory workers and citizens equally suffer due to its dilapidated condition. The project to reconstruct this road has already been approved, but awaits implementation, as some people’s vested interests are hindering prioritizing the issue, as the voters of the area are considered to incline towards certain political parties due to their ethnic background. However, this important road is used by a large number of motorists and commuters, as its links the areas of SITE, Pak Colony, Nazimabad, Old Golimar, Sher Shah and Mauripur Gulbai to Orangi and North Nazimabad. Citizens have demanded the government to seriously focus on starting work on this lingering project at the earliest. |
