CDA for speedy Kashmir highway expansion
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) had directed to the contractors of Kashmir Highway project to speed up the construction work of Kashmir highway.
Talking to media, the CDA spokesperson said that expansion work of Kashmir highway would be completed by December this year.He said the Kashmir Highway would be widened to five-lanes from existing two lanes on both sides. The project was estimated to cost Rs4.8 billion and the expansion work was started in February 2012, he maintained.Spokesperson said the construction work on New Islamabad Airport would complete by next year. With operation of this new airport, expansion of residential sectors/housing societies, traffic from Peshawar and Islamabad Motorway increased traffic volumes will be generated on the Kashmir Highway. Keeping in view the above, the CDA has started the work on construction of widening of the Kashmir Highway, he added. |
