Foreign investment to boost economy, generate employment; PM
ISLAMABAD, Feb 10 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Monday said foreign investment would provide the much needed boost to Pakistan’s economy and generate employment opportunities. Attending a presentation on mega infrastructure development projects including Gawadar Port, Railways and Energy projects, the Prime Minister said the government has prioritized mega projects to put country’s economy on right track. He said timeline for the prioritized projects be followed and directed to complete these on time. The Prime Minister said Pakistan has growing strategic relationship with China and Pakistan welcomes new and innovative ideas in the all fields.
He said investments in ports, railways and energy sector will not only provide necessary impetus to economy but also generate employment opportunities. He said Pakistan has always welcomed Chinese investment which has been a source of further strengthening ties between the two countries.
He directed that investors be provided all possible assistance.
Earlier Prime Minister was briefed on the projects and was informed that various Chinese companies have invested in these sectors of economy while others have shown interest.
The meeting was attended by Minister Water and Power Khawaja Asif, Minister Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatmi and senior government officials.
