Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme – Acting CEO of PLDC removed over negligence
Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif visited the site of Aashiyana Iqbal on Burki Road to review progress of the project. Expressing extreme indignation over slow pace of work and negligence, he issued orders for immediate removal of the acting Chief Executive Officer of Punjab Land Development Company from his post and initiation of action against other guilty officers. Location Map The Chief Minister also took strict notice of non-completion of the road from Burki to the site of the Aashiyana Iqbal and reprimanded the concerned officers. He said that officers showing carelessness towards public-welfare projects have no right to stay on their posts and no such officer would be tolerated in Punjab. Shahbaz Sharif said that Aashiyana Iqbal, a revolutionary national project, aims at providing shelter to low income families but he was shocked to see the inefficiency of the concerned officers. He said that officers showing dereliction of duty in the implementation of the project for provision of shelter to the shelter-less have no right to stay in their post. He directed that the model of Aashiyana Iqbal be evolved under public-private partnership. During his briefing, Shahbaz Sharif said that thousands of homeless people have been provided shelter in Aashiyana Quaid. He said that besides provincial metropolis, work is also being carried out speedily on Aashiyana Housing Schemes in Sahiwal, Faisalabad and other big cities of Punjab. He said that residential facilities of the rich have been provided in Ayshiyana Housing Schemes. He said that Aashiyana Housing Project is the best example of utilization of public money on the welfare of the masses and every penny of funds is being spent in a transparent manner. The Chief Minister, who visited Aashiyana Iqbal Barki Road despite heavy rain, said had the concerned officers shown responsibility and commitment towards the project, the situation would have been completely different. Earlier, the Chief Minister was given a briefing on the proposed project of Aashiyana Iqbal Barki Road. Member Provincial Assembly Sheikh Alauddin, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretary Housing, Managing Director NESPAK, Director General LDA and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion. |
