RAWALPINDI: City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) will prepare a strategy in line with traders’ proposals to assist victims of Ghakhar Plaza tragedy, Commissioner Haseeb Athar said while addressing business community at Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on Monday. RCCI President Syed Asad Mushadi, Vice-President Imtiaz Chaudhry and former president SM Naseem were also present on the occasion. The commissioner said committees, formed to estimate losses and reasons for the incident, had submitted their reports to the authorities concerned. He said the plaza came down crashing after catching conflagration due to shortage of resources, though the CDGR had made all efforts to avoid damages in fire-like incidents. He appreciated the RCCI members’ efforts to help the Ghakhar Plaza victims. He urged the businessmen to step in to strengthen national economy. The RCCI president lauded the Punjab government’s initiative to distribute compensatory cheques among the victims.
