Rangers’ technical institute starts working
ISLAMABAD: Rangers Institute of Technical Education, established at the Rangers Headquarters Lahore to impart technical and vocational training to less educated and unskilled youth, has started functioning. The institute will run its programmes in collaboration with the National Vocational & Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC).

According to a statement issued by NAVTEC here on Friday, 225 young boys and girls have been admitted to various disciplines in the first NAVTEC-funded course.

The 12 disciplines in which they will be imparted technical education and training for three months include computer, mobile repairing, electrician, carpenter, motorcycle mechanic, nursing, beautification, tailoring, welding, auto electrician, embroidery and dress-designing.

NAVTEC Chairman Adnan A Khawaja visited the institute to witness the youth getting training in different fields. He went around various labs and saw training facilities there.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the government accorded high priority to technical and vocational training because it could play a pivotal role in economic and material progress of the country.

Talking to the trainees, Adnan Khawaja hoped they would become high-quality skilled persons in accordance with the requirements of the local and foreign industry.

Later in a meeting with NAVTEC chairman, Rangers (Punjab) Director General Major General Muhammad Yaqub Khan said students from various parts of the province had been admitted for training in the first course. In the next course, 10 students each from FATA and Balochistan would also be included for training, he added.
