Govt’s role in telecom growth appreciated

KARACHI: Zong has lauded the role of the government, Ministry of IT and Telecommunication and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in the development and growth of telecommunications industry in Pakistan.

The company said this in a statement in connection with the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on May 17, declared by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), with its theme ‘Protecting Children in Cyberspace’.

Zong, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Qian Li said, “All of us need to contribute positively to promote the objectives behind this year’s theme for our future generations. We are, therefore, determined to develop cellular products that benefit society in terms of improving efficiencies, promoting positive values and making life more enjoyable.”

“Challenges exist but all of us including parents, policymakers, practitioners and the civil society in general need to contribute to create a cyberspace that is safe for our children where they could play, learn and grow,” he added.
