No unnecessary power tariff hike: Tareen
ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Economic Affairs Shaukat Tareen has declared that the new budget will be based on the principle pf 'revival of economy with a human face'.

Tareen also assured the business community that the government would ensure while taking decision on power tariff hike that the national industry is not burdened unnecessarily.

He was speaking to the delegation of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), which met him at his office on Monday. During the meeting the delegation of the RCCI discussed issues and problems being faced by the business community, like oil prices, taxes, tax collection system and electricity shortage. The adviser assured the delegation that the government would rationalise taxes and tax collection system. However, tax evading would not be allowed at any cost and the government needs cooperation from the business community in this regard, he added. The adviser further said that the government would try to bring inflation down to single digits. Regarding increase in electricity charges, Tareen assured the delegation that the government would ensure that the national industry is not burdened unnecessarily. staff report
