Lahore: Iqbal Town nazim resigns before trust vote
LAHORE: Iqbal Town Nazim Sardar Kamil Umar resigned from office on Monday.A no-confidence motion was moved against the town nazim and 24 out of 27 members voted in favour of it. Umar resigned before the voting was conducted, said MNA Malik Afzal Khokhar. He alleged there were corruption charges against the town nazim and he opted to resign. “It is a victory of the PML-N,” he said. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) succeeded in removing a Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) backed nazim. Earlier, a no-confidence motion was moved against Ravi Town Nazim Malik Yousaf Ahad on June 8 but it was defeated and Ahad managed to remain the Ravi Town nazim. staff report
