Babri Masjid report indicts Advani and Sangh Parivar
NEW DELHI: The Liberhan Commission report presented to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has indicted LK Advani and Sangh Parivar for conspiring to demolish the Babri Masjid in 1992. The “Times of India” reported that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani had mobilised support to build the Ram Temple in place of the mosque and he failed to control the same crowd on the day the incident took place. The other Hindutva leaders responsible for the incident include former Uttar Pardesh chief minister Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharti, Murli Manohar Joshi, Ashok Singhal and Vinay Katiyar. The report also referred to “inaction” by former prime minister Narasimha Rao who “slept through the demolition”, the Times said. The report, which is likely to be tabled in parliament in the budget session, is devoted to Advani’s role and his statements during cross-examination. app

The "Times of India" reported BJP leader L K Advani mobilised support to build a Ram temple where the Masjid stood, and, on the fateful day, he failed to control the same crowd he earlier mobilised. The other front-ranking Hindutva leaders responsible for the tragic incident include former UP chief minister Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharti, Murli Manohar Joshi, Ashok Singhal and Vinay Katiyar. The report also referred to "inaction" of former PM P V Narasimha Rao who "slept through the demolition," the daily said. A big chunk of report, which is likely to be tabled in Parliament in the Budget session, is devoted to the role of Advani and his statements during the cross-examination. The report criticises him for his Rath Yatra and not keeping the saffron combine in control. Meanwhile, the Babri Masjid Action Committee has welcomed the submission of the Liberhan Commission report to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh despite the "inordinate delay". It demanded the government to quickly act on the report and make it public. The "tribune" reported the Liberhan Commission's report has also come down very heavily on other leaders of the BJP, RSS, Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Shiv Sena for "actively" or "passively" supporting the demolition. These senior leaders were fully aware of the intention of "kar sewaks" to demolish the mosque but preferred to feign ignorance of the same during the hearings, the daily said. http://www.brecorder.com/index.php?id=931488 |
