‘Mangla power house fault fixed’
ISLAMABAD: The technical fault at the Mangla power plant has been rectified and load shedding is likely to decrease from today (Saturday) due to the supply of 220 megawatts (MW) of electricity from the plant, said a spokesman for the Water and Power Ministry.
In a handout issued on Friday, the spokesman said the gap between supply and demand had increased due to the hot weather, resulting in load shedding. On Friday, a shortfall of 2,910MW was recorded in the demand and supply of electricity while in July last year the shortfall was 3,824MW, the Water and Power Ministry spokesman said. The Mangla power plant, with an installed capacity of 1,100MW, had been shut down due to a technical fault. Water and Power Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf visited the plant on Wednesday and inspected the repair work, the spokesman said. Ashraf directed the authorities to utilise all resources to restore power supply from the plant before July 25, the spokesman added. online http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...2009_pg7_5 |
