LDA stopped from razing two more plazas
Staff Report
LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) judge Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday stopped the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) from demolishing two commercial plazas situated in the PIA Housing Society and issued a restraining order to the LDA director general. The judge gave interim relief to the petitioners – owners of the plazas – and issued a stay order. The counsel for the petitioners submitted that the plazas had been constructed in accordance with law, but the LDA wanted to demolish them. He said the PIA Housing Society did not fall under the jurisdiction of the LDA, but the authority had started demolishing their plazas following the Supreme Court’s order against illegally constructed buildings in the city. He requested the court to stop the respondent authority from demolishing their plazas. |
