Shahbaz said the Lahore Ring Road Project was started by the PML-N government in 1997 but due to the toppling of democratic setup, the project of public prosperity could not be completed. He said the present government resumed the project in 2008 and despite facing a number of problems, all the hurdles in the execution of the project were removed and its early completion was ensured. He said the spirit shown in the quality completion of the Ring Road should be displayed in other development projects in the province.

The CM said the NLC had shown the same performance in completion of the Ring Road project which was demonstrated by the FWO in the uplift projects in 1998. He said NLC sector incharge Brig Shahid Majeed was in the FWO at that time and was now executing the NLC projects.

He said that the FWO was also showing excellent performance in the execution of development projects and the Shalimar Interchange Project was a proof of the fact.

The chief minister praised NLC DG Maj Gen. Imtiaz, Brig Shahid Majeed and his team, the DCO Lahore, Kh Imran Raza and officers of Nespak, provincial departments concerned, MNA Kh Saad Rafiq, Consultant and Architect Ahmad Mukhtar and officers and officials of PHA for their contribution in completion of the project. He lauded the role of the media, observing that it was providing guidance to politicians and society in the real sense and hoped that it would continue playing a positive role in the future as well. He also lauded the cooperation extended by provincial cabinet, especially, the minister for finance in the completion of the public welfare projects.

Earlier, Lahore Division commissioner gave a detailed briefing regarding the Lahore Ring Road Package-6 Project. Later, the chief minister formally inaugurated the project.

Provincial Ministers, members of national and provincial assemblies, DG NLC Maj Gen Imtiaz, Incharge NLC sector Lahore, Brig Shahid Majeed, Lahore commissioner and a large number of people were present.
