Barclays shifts business focus

KARACHI: Country Head of Barclays in Pakistan Mohsin Nathani said Barclays has decided to discontinue its retail loan business as part of its business focus. This decision has impacted approximately 80 permanent and 40 contract positions across the country, he said in a statement issued here on Monday.

He said the bank was aligning its strategic focus on the opportunities that it believed would prove beneficial for its customers and for Barclays. “We continue to focus on meeting the corporate and treasury requirements of multi-national corporations, financial institutions and large local businesses,” he said. He said the bank had established 15 branches and would focus on creating and deepening value for its customers by offering various products. staff report
