CDA expedites construction of weekly bazaar
ISLAMABAD - In an effort to facilitate the residents of Islamabad, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday decided to expedite the construction work at Bara Kahu weekly bazaar and extend its network of weekly bazaars to other rural areas of the federal capital.
The establishment of the Bara Kahu weekly bazaar was initiated by the CDA to meet the longstanding demands of the residents of the area. The Bara Kahu weekly bazaar will cover an area of 4 acres, with 671 stalls, out of which 575 stalls have already been constructed. The work is in progress on the rest of the stalls and the concrete footpath. Six entry gates will be constructed and work on the boundary wall around the weekly bazaar has been completed. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2.81 million. CDA Chairman Engineer Farkhand Iqbal also visited the under-construction bazaar on Wednesday. He directed the CDA Engineering Wing to complete the development work faster and connect the entrance to bazaar from 3rd Avenue to facilitate more people. He also directed the DMA and Works Wing to complete the work on war-footing and allot stalls to the deserving people. The CDA chief said that Bara Kahu connects with many rural populations around Islamabad and has its unique importance, adding that the weekly bazaar would provide benefits to the people of the area to purchase the commodities of daily use on cheaper rates. He said that the CDA would construct more weekly bazaars in other parts of the rural areas around the federal capital to facilitate the people. |
