CDA decides action against Tarnol, Golra encroachers
ISLAMABAD - Capital Development Authority has decided to screw up all those violating the law by constructing houses and shops in Tarnol and Golra areas of Islamabad where CDA has completed award process by imposing Section 144.
The CDA has sought help from Rawalpindi and ICT police to keep the violators at a bay from encroaching lands in these particular areas. The decision was taken during a high level meeting chaired by Member Administration Capital Development Authority (CDA) Amer Ali Ahmed regarding removal of encroachments from the sectors where CDA has completed the award process.
DC Islamabad, DC Rawalpindi, and DIG Operations Islamabad police attended the meeting. During the meeting it was decided that Islamabad police and ICT administration will fully cooperate with CDA in removal of encroachments from the areas where CDA has completed the award process.
It was decided during the meeting that deputy commissioner Islamabad will ban all new constructions in Tarnol and Golra areas of Islamabad where CDA has completed award process by imposing Section 144. It was also decided during the meeting that to check encroachments, Islamabad Police will establish five pickets in the areas where CDA has completed award process. It was further decided that Islamabad Police will ensure regular patrolling in these areas to discourage any future encroachment.
The DIG Operations and DC Islamabad assured full support of Islamabad Police and ICT Administration to CDA in future also.
Meanwhile, a high-level review meeting regarding dengue control was held here at CDA headquarters on Tuesday morning. Member Administration CDA, Amer Ali Ahmed chaired the meeting.
Amer Ali Ahmed during the meeting said that CDA in collaboration with ICT will devise a comprehensive and integrated strategy for two years elaborating the actions, e.g. awareness campaigns, fogging, indication of potential breading sites and larva-ciding with time lines and anti dengue campaign will continue through the year.
Amer further said, “We need to be vigilant and proactive indiscriminate of weathers to check the spread of dengue virus. With the climate change, dengue fever is no more confined to moderate weather only. Even if cold winter provides temporary relief in war against dengue, we should use this time to further fortify and train ourselves and strategise our efforts to curb this menace.”
Amer further said that comprehensive and concrete efforts by CDA have resulted in low rate of dengue outbreak in Islamabad in comparison to other parts of the country and CDA will advance with increased momentum to fully over power dengue virus in years to come. “Let’s resolve to purify Islamabad of dengue virus,” he added.
The meeting was informed that for over last weeks no case of dengue larva or dengue patient has been reported from the capital city. The meeting was further informed that concerned formations of CDA remained fully vigilant and active during the previous years to thwart any danger posed by the dengue virus. During last month, CDA conducted the mapping of the city for dengue virus. Process of larva-ciding and fumigation also continued in the city. Surveillance of dengue patient was also important component of the overall anti dengue drive.
The meeting was further informed that mass awareness campaign was also pivotal portion of the anti dengue drive and it will continue. CDA in-order to educate masses about dengue virus and as preventive measures distributed over 200,000 pamphlets among the residents of Islamabad. More than 500 banners containing dengue awareness literature were displayed in different areas of the capital city.
Stressing on the importance of capacity building, Amer directed to use the period from now till end of February for capacity building including training of concerned staff. The Member Admin directed the Directorate of Health Services to formulate teams to keep consistent watch on areas with potential danger of dengue outbreak. Directorate of enforcement was directed to launch operation against installations offering breeding spaces to dengue mosquitoes including tyre shops. Directorate of Health Services was further directed to start surveillance of dengue larva endangered areas from February 15.
