Govt focusing on solar energy option

LAHORE: The government will focus on solar energy to overcome the energy crisis in the country, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Azam Khan Swati said.

Addressing the members of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Tuesday he said his ministry has come with a great programme of overcoming the energy deficit through solar energy.

He urged the industrialists for opting value addition in their products and quoting an example of poor performance by PCSIR labs in Karachi, he said the laboratory earned around Rs 40 million while amount given to its employees, as salary is Rs 750 million. "Such departments are causing shame for the government and needed to be overhauled immediately," the minister said.
