Lahore: LCCI to broadcast educational radio programmes for women entrepreneurs
LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in collaboration with Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) on Tuesday launched a vast outreach project of radio programmes for women entrepreneur to create greater awareness among them for running successful businesses.

The launching ceremony was jointly performed by Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, LCCI President Mian Muzaffar Ali and CIPE Senior Programme Manager Hammad Siddiqui.

In his inaugural remarks, Rehman said the radio programmes would go a long way in bringing more women into the business field. He said the programmes would help women with low-level education to better understand concepts involved in operating a business from home in a versatile way.

Speaking on the occasion, Muzaffar Ali said that during last couple of years an increased participation of women in economic activities has been witnessed. Their activities are not only confined to traditional trades but also in running and managing their own businesses, working in service sectors such as marketing, banking, information technology, armed forces, media, traffic management and civil services.

LCCI Standing Committee on Women Entrepreneurs Development Convener, Aasia Siaal Khan said radio programmes would help ensure participation of more and more women in businesses. She said women make more than half of Pakistan’s population and without their representation in the businesses it is not possible for the country to achieve required goals.

About radio programmes, she said that the series of broadcasts transmitted all over Pakistan would be based on interviews of high achieving women entrepreneurs who have braved all the difficulties to become successful.

Siddiqui said that the very objective of the radio broadcasts is to increase access to information for women so that they could be able to run their businesses in a winsome manner.

He said the programmes would focus on cottage industries, livestock, farming, dairy products and traditional crafts.
