MQM prefers to leave govt than compromise principles: Altaf
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has claimed on Thursday that the MQM would prefer parting ways with the coalition government instead of compromising its principles.
“The MQM has adopted a principled stand on the National Reconciliation Ordinance,” said Hussain in a telephonic speech at an election rally in Skardu, adding that the MQM would prefer quitting the coalition government for the sake of truth and principles. He vowed that the MQM would not support any law or ordinance that is incompatible with its manifesto and the people’s wishes. “MQM represents the middle class and we reject the feudal culture and family politics,” he said reminding that he had not imposed his family members on the MQM workers. He urged the federal government to pay attention to the problems of Gilgit and Baltistan and their reservations on Bhasha Dam, Diamer Dam and Shandur Polo Ground. He demanded that the salaries of government employees in Gilgit and Baltistan should be raised and students’ problems should also be solved. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg7_41 |
