LDA starts operation against encroachers
Lahore—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) carried out a massive anti-encroachment operation from Multan Road to Scheme Moor, on Saturday despite a national holiday, with a view to eliminating physical hurdles in the execution of reconstruction and widening project of Multan Road.
According to press release, 80 feet wide strip of land along Multan Road had been reserved in the original scheme plan of Allama Iqbal Town for future widening of this road at the time of launching of this scheme. But the area had been encroached over the years. Staff of the Estate Management and Enforcement Directorates of LDA partially demolished four petrol pumps, established in the area, from their front besides eradicating illegal constructions set up by two beverage factories namely Benz and Coca Cola. A large number of shops, showrooms and other constructions were also flattened during the operation. Part of land retrieved as a result of this operation will be utilized for expansion of this busy inter-city road. LDA partially demolishes four petrol pumps along Multan Road.—Online |
