Karachi: DHA Administrator requests more water from KWSB
KARACHI: Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) MD Ghulam Arif reiterated to DHA Administrator Brigadier Khalid Tirmizi on Friday that the KWSB will soon close down 37 illegal hydrants that have lowered the water level available to them to supply water to different areas.
In the meeting, Tirmizi stated that KWSB is inadvertently supplying less water to DHA, causing a water shortage. He revealed that DHA has been allocated nine million gallons of water daily but on an average it receives two million gallons less. The DHA Cogeneration Plant has been temporarily shut down for technical reasons and this has further aggravated the water crisis because a daily supply of 3 million gallons of desalinated water has been disrupted. The DHA administrator requested Arif to increase KWSB’s water supply to DHA. Arif assured him that KWSB will do so after Eid. He also promised to replace the ruptured and damaged 8-inch wide water supply line that runs from Two Swords in Clifton to Zamzama Boulevard http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...08_pg12_11 |
